  • WE, the undersigned, declare the following system crisis:
The measurements used in the corporate boardroom – and to which the board itself is measurable – are perfect maths for decimating the interests of long-term investors, and all stakeholders whose connections through trust-flow and loyalty determine whether the future of a global market sector is exponentially developing or destroying all peoples livelihoods and lives.

Golden Oldie Intangibles Valuation The Easy Bit
(for hard to climb Mountains - see sustainability ; corporate governance; waves that shook 6 billion network beings)

GOLDEN OLDIE - INTANGIBLES VALUATION : THE EASY BIT

All over the world the people have been cheated out of the service economy investing in people. Intrapreneurial economics 1 & case studies 1 can now confirm that it is quite possible for a company in a service sector to return 100 fold to investors but only if they honour a generation's lifetime service and connect this with society's greatest meeds from the sector. You will never get any such returns from boardrooms who have been sold the poke of shareholder valuation or who innocently believe that quarterly accounting numbers have any correlation with whether they are leading the company expoentialy up or down.

this crisis goes under the professional jargon of intangibles valuation but it is as simple as what structure flows of trust to keep resonating between people

how did the crisis start and get prolonged?

well the global accounting monopoly has always been based on a viciously inhuman rule- you can invest in machines never in people, people are cots, they are for cutting

inhuman as this assumption was, it reflected the fact that accounting standards were drawn up 90 or so years ago when the industrial age did mean that the main investment tended to be in machines, but this is absurd wherever a country's economics are mainly about service, which is what differentiates most value these days

everything went from farcical to tragic to being intimately to do with future destruction of cultures and the planet in the 1980s

first: the spreadsheet came along, and accountants algorithms were spread everywhere

second: 5 leading global accounting partner firms took over the world's accounting and they were not inclined to admit that their monoply tracked less and less of the information boardrooms needed to know

then accountants started partnering the biggest but least useful sector in other professions : we'll make your business case predominant if you make ours

so branding was valued by accountants to be all about advertising, when its now the case that advertising is the cost of corporate branding not its value

knowledge was valuesd as being how many people can you replace by computing machines

    and so on

All of this was perfect as far as tangible accountants' monopoly over boardroom number-crunching were concerned: bolstered by another assumption built into their standards to give an image of precision - separability - whereas human relationship flows of trust are all about connectedness ; as too are learning networks and every other forward looking value differentiator we could be innovating. Instead the world is being governed to exponentials desctruction (such as these 21 global sectors ) clearly show

now even governments like the European Union are tied up in tangible accounting's misinformation; for 3 years the EU sponsored research into intangibles and then promptly closed it down; in parallel the Brussels System has wiped most of the several hundred conversations "knowledge angels" were originally encouraged to edit on intangibles and emotional inteligence, intellectual, human and socail capital at knowledgeboard.com. You can see the knowledge angel proposal that involved about 1000 days of meetings across Europe which people paid their own way to network around here; and search for the wider confirmation of the intents and crushing rulership by Brussels here.

here's a smapler of our dialogues that people have been telling me they have been searching for:

Intangibles Valuation - The Easy Bit
Three Future Shocks of Intangibles Valuation
    • In service or networked economies, intangibles are the primary leadership system for innovating value
    • Shocking theory: intangibles only get produced as activated in relationships connecting people
    • Spinning network economics around trust-flows: systemised by quality of human relationships invested in the organisation to date, future value multiplication exchanged by the intangibles rich organisation is already measurable. It is compounding along one of the 2 curves composed by this benchmarking scale.

    Intangibles Crisis
Seminal research titled Unseen Wealth was published in 2000 by economists and scholars of law at Brookings, Washington DC. A parallel report issued by the European Union foresaw an Intangibles Crisis. Organisations of every size will be at increasing risk of intangibles destruction until or unless a parallel relationships audit is implemented alongside current accounting. Since 2000, dozens of multi-billion dollar corporations have failed. While a few involved corruption at the top, the bigger “Unseen” news story is how leadership blindspots compound unless the whole of a knowledge serving organisation is valued and involved in connecting up the goodwill curve.

So that's the easy bit!Perhaps we could play a guessing game- why do I as a mathematician, social community researcher and experimenter with elearning products know the above's the easy bit?
Opportunity 1 : If there's any human discipline out there, the above could make a whole new (human relations system) case for connecting what you do in the organisation to what others do. Do you like the sound of that or does that frighten you deeper into a silo?

Chris Macrae , 10 February 2005 @ 11:18 AM a question that comes before doing KM?Mr Chris Macrae
so darling , you are a KM expert - but first I want to know if the trust-flow in this organisation is sustaining or dying - what method will help us see? HOW ABOUT A PICTORIAL CLUE

One way to look at the above picture is 45 conversational loops - like if 10 people sat round a table, that's the number of paired conversation relationships that could evolve.
Now if you wish you can define your discipline. Let's agree TRUST is the most pervasively valuable flow to have gravitating all these loops. And choosing one other connection :Trust & ... to be what your discipline helps action into every relevant relationship loop.
For example if were to choose the word promise, I believe Trust & Promise are critical to every loop. I believe that's what the profession of intangibles valuation needs to model in mapping quality of human relationships. But that's not necessarily more important than a profession which does another deeper link to trust. Yesterday I was at a rehearsal of the annual worldwide get-together of Organisational Design experts. A lady was proposing that Design =Trust*Control

On the above picture that would represent (as I see it) 17 loops - all 9 loops connecting with K3 (hierarchical knowledge manageent) and all the extra 8 loops connecting with what owners V3 demand as value. To compound maximal control and trust, that's 17 loops that need systematic caring, practicing, monitoring. And that brings lots of depth to OD which can interface with the shallower but broader auditing of all 45 loops and their ultimate composite valuation as to wher are we is compounding on the sustainability curves.
To take another sub-example. Transparency clean up after nuclear means all organisational partners (bsusinesses and local place) getting together and sharing openly across their boundaries. If you like this is Trust and Control of 15 loopsK3*K4, K3*K5,K3*V3,K3*V4,K3*V5, K4*K5, K4*V3, K4*V4, K4*V5, K5*V3, K5*V4, K5*V5, V3*V4, V3*V5, V4*V5
Now did you see it coming? what word do you tell your friend that KM=TRUST &....
and how many paired loops do you see corresponding to the verbal choice you make? There is no correct answer except that's what what you are (tacitly or now explicitly) scoping KM's work and professional competence to be about across the system (as well as understanding what else it will need to build interdicisplinary brudges with if KM is not to disconnect the whole system's trustflow (ie sending organisation down the wrong sustainability curve)

What's the most simple example of mathematically wrong corporate governance destroying leadership that we can present? A few years back, many thought intangibles were almost synonymous with brand and rated Coca-Cola as having the largest brand valuation

As mapmakers concerned to value how the exponentials of whole systems and networks of relationships flow, interact and compound, we believe this opposite logic is now compelling. Do tell us if you see a counter-argument!

For everyone to have an uplifting 21st century, including Coke, we need to agree one idea- whether you think of trade around a brand, an organisation , an industry sector, a nation, we are looking at a human relations system or productivity inputs and demand outputs

Pattern rule 1 is that all such systems spin through time either virtuously or viciously, ie they are either compounding growth of value into the future between all the sides they are exchanging with or destruction of value for all the sides

what are the most certain mathematically for a leadership team's governance to spin destruction?

1 commit brand apartheid by omitting some side from the exchange who is impacted over time

2 claiming that one side's interest are above all others even if over time this causes conflicts - such as a brand promising what it has no operational model to deliver

3 getting diseased or fat inside by not adapting to what's changing

With the possible exception of China, Coke is a brand on a very steep downward exponential for various of the above reasons but above all it is because it still believes its economics to spend a billion a year on adverstising and nothing on reality making- look at it a different way- think of all the youth communities that Coke still connects from its residual position as having been number 1 firendly young persons brand- Is Coke telling me there are no future realities that could unite the world's youth in harmony with the futures they want? If so, its failing creativity by a very large margin and needs to be buried as fast as all can do

Welcome to this new version of our blog, necessitated by 2 crises

As long-standing readers will recall, unseen wealth research suggests:
-that companies now need 2 opposite mathematical audits- valuing whether intangibles are moving exponentially up or down cannot be governed by the tangible audit
-90% or more of the value of service economies multiplies, and can only be seen through resolving any conflicting signals of how well we've performed between tangibles (how much we took the last quarter) and intangibles trust-flow (how much our exponential future value is sustaining or deflating).

Unfortunately, it appears that 9 Dec 2005, Google gave as unwanted Xmas present of wiping our weblog, hence the 2nd crisis. If there are particular sections of the old weblog that you have and love, or that you still wanted to question , I would be delighted to be emailed at wcbn007@easynet.co.uk

Meanwhile my co-editors and I are assembling a fast track view of what our communal learning has been so far

Remember the argument in the nutshell:
Over 80% of compund future worth of secrice economies is no longer seen by governace of all the world's largest organisations, wherever they are distracted by the tangible accounting monopoly's accounting figures. These figures do not permit booking in investment in people. only machines. More fatally they blind boardrooms to addiction of the bootom line, thereby failing to see the system's compounding consequences of value multiplication

Intangibles used to mean so humanly interconnected that it cannot be mathematically audited the separable way tangibles can. It is and always has been goverened bygoodwills future exponentials. These are already measurable as upcurving or downcurving. Because goodwill interconnect relationships already invested in (ie how conflicted or conflict free is the productive & demanding system spinning around an organsioation's gravitational purpose)

There have been at least 100 cases of huge implosions of goodwill so far this decade. Very few were actually overt corruption in the boardroom, most were caused by intangibles blindness. Take Arthur Andersen itself. You can chose how many of its top 100 leaders were corrupt or how many were misinformed by not looking at 2 mathematical models instead of tangioble's accounting monoploy one. If you believe that all goodwill compoents are seaparble then when you govern bilions of goodwill with business stakeholders and value plumetting down to zero (trust) with society, your view as a hard manager is to say billions +0=billions. Its not too urgent to find out why society has lost trust through serial abuse by a few isolated cases of errors or wrongdoing in oure company. If howver you know that goodwill is multiplicative your risk analysis of billions *0=0 is different. You become much earlier concerned about restoring true and fair before your downward goodiwll exponential to zero value is unstopable.

Its the same intangibles crisis being played out the world over wherever peoples are losing trust. As our senior economist predicted back in 1984, if we don't correct this with 30000 projects valuing what most importnat to global villages and communities by 2010, then globalsiation will probably be irreversibly turning against humanity. The subject of Queen Elizabeth's end of 2005 speech, and our 2004 presentation of Goodwill Wars in Delhi Christmas 2004.

2006 sees the 30th birthday of Entrepreneurial Revolution (launched in The Economist in 1976). Would you like to co- sponsor a co-scripting network with one of the 5 preneurial groups future hoistorians valuye most? In what other ways can all peoples openly debate the world's most valauble chalenges to humanity's sustinability? How can we restore the collaboration innovation that newtorks were born to permit in the eyes of Johny von Neuman, as illustrated by the space race of the 1960s which bite for bite enable more knowledge multiplication than any orgamnsioed project before or since? Will we be in time to teach young women leaders of the future? NineNow SearchTheresa

It is our view that the future exponential audits are configured around contextual depth whilst being mappable around common patterns of value exchange molecules , the playing pieces of which you can see here

This presentation introduces the maths of tracking future exponentials and their sustainability of human systems (core dynamics: trust-flow, boundary transparency, contextually gravitated sustainability of compounding future consequences)

This does not support the 20th C's mathematical monopolies of:
  • Separating historic quarters

  • The economics of the big gets bigger

  • The maths of invest in machines and cut people down as costs

  • These other 3 maths should be expected to be in conflict with the maths described in this presentation

Reconciling a higher order mathematical system that harmonies sustainability for future exponentials with any other performance measures you require is arguably the number 1 challenge of humanity’s 1984-2024 generation (the first to be networked connected and to be propagating productivities and demands) across 2 million global villages (whether geographically or network gravitated) . All other globalisation initiatives are interdependent with it as our the 7 collaboration waves most likely to sustain or destroy all 6 billion beings depending on our competence to cross-culturally interconnect with each other’s burning needs and beliefs whilst also respecting nature and other environmental dynamics that interface human with spiritual etc.

The CEO of Wal-Mart, world's laregst corporation, spent a lot in January 05 launching a press campaign, and avowedly public deabte he titled Unfiltered Truth. We will use this section of i-v blog to update the conversation

Is always low cost the perfect model for multiplying goodwill or badwill?

We beleive the avcid test of Wal-mart's future (which in a transparent wprld may become ) dollars as suddenly as Arthur Andersen did) is:

can the world agree a list of retail markets which Wal-Mart has the most influence over?

which of these markets does it govern only on always lowering cpost, and which does it include value of life?

for example, someone has to take some responsibility for the worldwide sector of shrimp markets (after chicken, one of the fastet growing food chain markets in the globe, partly because the Chinsese love both)

we know from Tsunami inquests that cheap shrimp farming destroyed mangrones which had they not been destroyed would have saved thopusands of lifes; we know that this markets "rape and run" principles had been decried by the United Nations - so who had most global influence over Shrimp markets?

we know that there has been a lot of scare stories anout bird flu; and that in some way one of the sources of this has been some sort of poultry type farming in China; who has been dominating that retail market

we know that in some fashions markets, young girls are used as slaves in camps (that may be called factories) but which actually have less rights tha prisoner of war camps; again whose compound leadership is responsible for these kinds of global markets

we are not sugesting that Wal-mart was the governor of any of thes eglobal market's human futures, because we don't yet have the information; what we are suggesting is that wal-mart does have most influence over many global retial sectors (unsurprisingly as world's largest corporation and world's largest retailer); and if always low cost is taken at thye kind of face valued so far communicated by Wal-Mart's CEO then there appears to be a denial of resposibility for humanity that each worldwide market's scetor actually involves; could we have an unfiltered truth response to that. In the absence of which, once enough societies arpund the world understand what is going on, godwill and value of wal-Mart can be expected to expoentially fall to zero -dont't you think

    more on exponentials

to 2010: openly testing of what up to a million people think of wal-mart

understanding sustainability of our species as the coming war between goodwill and badwill networks

in a world linking 2 million global villages - 6 billion people SIMPLY need to converse around what globalization and local communal issues

    Accounting for People

We'd like to see local governments urgently experiment with ways of getting their leading companies to benchmark this huge change to the organisation - being governed to make the most of people rather than the least would be a sign that economics and policy had come of age. Macroeconomic models are now available to show this leadership awareness is the number 1 differentiator between consistently high and low productivity countries in Europe. N*N*N*N*N - a collaboration experiment of unheard of scale...

valuetrue.com: According to the open source standard maths of intangibles valuation, organisations N systemically exchanging almost wholly goodwill and little direct money should be able to multiply each other's value N*N*N*N*N... demonstrating collaboration as being as interesting a network-age strategy as competition...dance with us along this experimental thread.

People Centred Valuation Systems of Organisation

To understand why this may be the most revolutionary theory in the economics and social life of organisations, we need to explore contentions like these:

-Dynamic valuation constructs did not exist until the emergence of Value Exchange Theory in the 1990s, centred around work of Verna Allee and early researchers of virtual multipliers of people's networks

-Unique impacts being mapped with this domain of systems theory:
--Beyond zero-sum economics and policy capitals harnessed by transparent collaboration strategy integrated so as to remove defensive competition and vicious spirals that compound due to historic theory of externalities

--People activated relationship dynamics are the system's valuation component loops , coordinates and context - so for example measurement instruments governing value exchnages ensure there no risk of knowledge without doing, nor talk without walk

--Innovation of value that compounds sustainably does not begin with money but resolving problems with truly people-centred solutions. This includes valuing people's time, learning, positive emotions, social network permissions and relationship quality of whole systems and networks of systems. We can transparently track the consequences of any system's leadership controls in terms of monetary futures whilst not confusing the role of money in value exchange theory. We can invite all professions to openly participate in the most inspiring organisational designs - custom-evolving to connect people's demands for deep contextual support from at every locality of our world. Since 1984 -when future ssytem storytellers (1,2)first engaged in debates of network economics - we have been eagerly awaiting a time when management theory openly embraced people-age organisational systems, over and above machine-age business reenginnering. The time is now; why not join in benchmarking how the human era of organisation hets seen as measurably trustworthy for and by every co-worker?)

    relationships as an interdisciplinary cure

Seeing relationships can help resolve professional silos that numbers measurement, when ruling alone, compounds. Does your profession have any writer etc advocating how to get related fast? Examples welcomed.

Politics & Intangibles - Approximate Chronology

In the early 1980s, it was clear that mankind was entering the most exciting age of change ever experienced. The invention of the steam engine was small beer compared with internetworking technology. Peter Drucker had started writing up inspirational stories on what knowledge workers could do in innovative organisations; and as far back as 1976 my father at The Economist was writing up entrepreneurial and intrepreneurial revolutions. These were being translated across Europe by amazing people including Romano Prodi who oversaw the Dutch & Italian versions, with the translation of the chapter headline "10 Green Bottles" providing a celebrated cultural challenge. BUT, as our 1984 book (sponsored by the California Institute of Contemporary Studies and later taken most seriously in Nordica) on the future of networking, globalisation and all simultaneous changes in human relationships aimed to make clear: there is no certainty that revolutionary change will result in the best of old and new worlds. The other possibility, like Orwell's, is the worst of both worlds. Variables my father wrote in the book's introcution included: Will people devise the best incentive systems to so that best of both world's becomes reality? Will all democrats make the right decisions for all people? Will old powers transparently share with new?

A lot of milestones have happened in line with our optimistic forecasts : from the fall of the Berlin Wall to the potential of virtual learning and social networking freedoms liberated by web, net and digital replication of ideas anywhere at almost no cost of proapagtion. BUT from around 1988 , everything to do with intangibles measurement that could go wrong, has. Here is a rough timeline...

Maps- The Most Human Measuring Instrument

The 10 Billion Dollar Measurement & Mapmaking Network

There are 3 types of context whose upside or downside will compound more than 10 billion dollars over the next 4 years

--those global global corporations, or economic regions which already have 10 billion dollars of goodwill to lose if they 'zeroise' trust the way that Andersen and 50 other cases in our databank have in the last 4 years

--the world's biggest humanitarian issues, where rapid progress could produce human value equivalent to 10 billion dollars- for example : today a billion people don't have access to freshwater; what value would the world put on halving the scale of that desperate need (in places where the issue is political not one needing more money thrown at technology)

--the 20 greatest entrepreneurial innovations which is systemically designed to maximise value for all participants could each multiply 10 billion dollars of wealth for those who connect the greatest skills, services, resources needed

We (wcbn007@easynet.co.uk) invite membership of this network by anyone who might have a suitable context. They dont have to be this large, but your passion to maximise sustainable value multiplication for all will need to be transparent to stay in the network.

Inviting every author of open systemic methods to connect

The purpose of valuetrue maps is to offer the minimum standard maths so that every context can be specifically interfaced. In sustaining particular contexts, open systemic method from all sorts of disciplines will come into play. Since 1984 our partners' work on non-zero sum global network economics and local social policies has provided 2 systemic approaches:

The leadership practices of brand architectures and living scripts that enable people relating to a brand to openly question trust in where its context is evolving and connect the thousand of activities whose productive intergation and mediation takes communications beyond image-making to reality-making

Systemic investigative research and storytelling of future histories - as a way of engaging wider publics in the network revolutionary era 1984-2024, recognising that this system of system challenge of pervasive connectivity will either advance the human lot for everyone or end in consequences more desire than Orwell's worst nightmares. World systems are blunt things- as a whole that compounds over time they can only spin goodwill or badwill. On our 1984 timeline: if goodwill is to be humanity's common worldwide project then around 2005 we must stand up and recognise man's greatest risk: the differences in incomes and expectations of rich and poor nations. We have a special desire to help collect above zero-sum economic approaches ;because that would mean it didn't need to cost the rich anything to help develop the poorest parts of the world. Sustainability doesnt have to be a zero-sum game however much those blinded by poor mathematics may seek to persuade you otherwise. We learnt this lesson in helping to compile the biography of John von Neumann.

4 ways to rehearse intangible maps

    1) We can play a game on the future of any context that matters to people. We do need 10 people focusing around the same context. Virtually, it takes about an hour of posts that may be done during a 3 week period. In games we agree to facilitate, the players choose how to use the knowledge nobody has ever mapped before. This could be the most strategically implementable value inside a company or the most newsworthy one co-created publically on what future is possible.

    2) Benchmarking: the last time that so many organisations saw gaps in what they could be achieving was in the 1980s with so-called total product quality. However, this was a small bechmarking race compared with what reputaional losses are at risk for being slow this time. Today networks mean detailed information replicates faster, and moreover this system reformation focuses on the most valuable permissions to an organisation's future.

    3) Simply the key missing metric to lead with in an intangibles and networking world. Takes about 60 minutes personal interview if the CEO truly wants to know. Explains how fast future value is spinning , and which way : growth, destruction

    4) Quarterly audit: to sustain relationship quality and to intervene at the most economic time (ie as soon as relationship conflicts with context emerge), this audit is needed using multiplication instead of classical accounting's models by addition. The different perspective arises because classical accounting is only concerned with making the past look precise which it buys with static assumptions; whereas the intangibles audit models how the dynamics of living relationships are already compounding future possibilities.

Intangibles-Valuation - Public Right to Know

Just after Enron collapsed, I was talking to the person in the EU who funds research of intangibles valuation. The conversation turned on a catch 22 : experts know that there is something tragically wrong with the way large corporate performance is measured using such rules as people are costs to cut, whereas machines can be booked in by accounting rules as investments. This rule alone causes far more downsizing -and compounds societal strains - than is needed let alone humanly sustained. However EU politicians are not likely to encourage big business to change unless the public makes it an issue; and for the public the word seems so technical that its not likely to turn election votes any time soon. My friend said perhaps you would need 4 Enrons in the same year before this become news people grasp. Even when as one recent example 50 opinion leaders here http://www.tomorrowscompany.com/publications.html
warns: nobody's pensions are safe until we demand reform

I see the chances of the public gaining understanding a bit like a game of snakes and ladders:
-a ladder is a link to something very trustworthy like the one above
-a snake is a reference to a very expert or powerful group, but one whose past history has shown not to be in any hurry to make understanding of intangibles simple

otherwise a title will try and post something that helps make intangibles simpler to see; we have various games including one on the future of any context that matters to you be it industry sector, region, social cause. Any context connected to how humans connect relationships with it through time needs to be governed openly with specific intangibles measurements that are in crucial ways opposite to what traditional machine-age accounting assumed. Dont worry we wont get too technical with the maths at all often. In fact if you think of accountants separating value into parts by only ever using addition, whereas intangibles needing multiplicative measurements to model compound consequences over time, we don't need to get more technical than that in explaining how any organisation however big can be multiplied by zero if it wholly loses the trust of any of the people whose main opportunities in life are related to it.

I do rely on your questions to keep getting simpler as well as more humanly interesting. Welcome Aboard.

The following extract is taken form the blog simplicitynet; related blogs are chartering how to make communal identity everyone's business; and a simplicity mission which the Queen of England ask Britons to debate in 2006- is humanity turning against iteslf? (and if so how can all colaborative citizens intervene)

Why do some people love complexity and what do most people lose because of their selfishness?
Some academics love to brand stuff as complexity either because it makes them sound smart to provide solutions or because it increases their funding or because to experts in separating disciplines connecting the simplest common ideas is not profitable. Most academics are ultimately rewarded by how many papers they publish; and this is easier if you have departmentalised jargon so only your peer group can referee whether you merit publication. Even in the days of Gullivers travels, a guided tour nted a bunch of academics tring to extract moonshine from cucumbers wholst much more urgent problems humanity needed solutions to were left unstudied. I don't know one way in which the tendeny to praoise complexity has not worsened in acdemia since Swift's times.
Politicians, and others at the top of big systems love to be able to describe something as complex because then nobody could do better, nobody needs to take responsibility; and if a terribly wrong decison is later questioned, they can always find buckets full of advisers (often academics) to testify how complex the situation was; how nobody could have tried to make a more human decision. Today 90% of future waleth is left ungoverned but nobody in boardrooms needs to question that because resolving such systemic crises as intangibles, transparency and sustainability expoentials is too complex.
Others love to sell a standard and complexity is always about detailed contexts; as long as you are not trying to become famous for offering one-fits-all professional solution (as unfortunately many global consultants are) complexity is simple but requires detailed questioning that is best answered by thos who love the humanity of the context and have the most communal experience. Note however lawyers are also trying to write up one standard to adjudicate between right and wrong, independent of context and incpabale of admitting that usually both side bear some degree of fault, particularly if what has broken down has cycled through time to include much more diversity and differences than any contract signed from the start could anticipate. This also explains why those who want to mass bigger and bigger power, and not necessarily improving at what they do, will favour complexity and all its professional allies. Its always ordinary people and societies who lose the most from promoting complexity

a question to 21st : will men at top of globe leave the peoples to suffer all the troubles first?

The death of distance future history we wrote in 1984 (the final book of a trilogy whose first 2 episodes were published as surveys in The Economist 1976 1982 ) predicted the next decade would revolve round reconciling this risk. In a networked age the people at the top are not as smart as connecting what we could all observe, question, collectively knowledge work around.

If this decade 2000-2010 fails in this globalisation reconciliation, 1 we will have failed our children's generation and started mankind's destruction of the earth. Call that the George Orwell scenario or which ever scifi apocalypse tomorrow you have had the closets encounter with. If however we succeed in mapping a way through so that the top listen to the people and use media to ask the next big questions rather than to image over reality, then we forecast that the 21st C will be the age when humankind finally grows up in the greatest collaboration and civilisation imaginable.

    OUR MISSIONS at MACRAE.NETS

WE will keep circulating our scripts on Death of Distance and Entrepreneurial Revolution for Open Debate wherever people sources linkin or netizens co-blog A B C D

We will develop a website valuetrue.com where all transparency communities are invited to map out hi-trust relationships and transparencies between the boundaries of one place and another, or one competitive corporation and another, or one management profession and another. We will update any trouble stories that appear in the hope that out of conflicts pattern rules higher order harmony can be facilitated. This reflects the number 1 learning about innovation and peace of open space in its first 50000 rehearsals that Harrison Owen's worldwide alumni began about the same time as we started issuing earth of distance debating scripts. How we announced MyWorldAtlas to The Open Space Community whose shared listserve is as inquisitive for humanity's sake as any yet known to valuetrue transparency communities and ASIN emerging at BBCican.

I have been piloting this systemic construct's components for quite a long while now, and feel confident enough to expose it to your advice. Doubtless it needs huge improvement. I have long believed an open networking world needs a whole new atlas to take economics above zero-sum extraction - our dream journey begins at global university with helping people to develop a different map for every humanitarian agenda that replicates globally but requires active resolution locally.

Oddly, as I begin to network professionally with sustainabilty investment analysts - defined to be those whose prime concern is mathematically quantifying future exponentials - I believe that service and knowledge community businesses could learn from this paradigm too. See through maps of how key relationships of productivities and demands win-win-win make a company's most attractive (unique founding) purpose sustainable if it a company is prepared to make its reputation an open gateway to better futures for as many people as possible (an old fashion view of why people commit working lives to organisation). This seems to be acutely true in transformation contexts needing appreciation of Harrison's Triple-C : Conflict-Chaos-Confusion template for reconciliation.

The first component of MyWorldAtlas is literally to issue an invitation to a person or people in a network who appear to have a common gravity that I would hope to mutually multiply trust around.

In issuing such invitations, its often unclear who needs to co-mentor who first- that is part of the exploration permit or open space dialogue. I am sure, since Open Spaces are the greatest invitation gatherings around, you could edit a better invitation but the one our (1) MyWorldAtlas network uses currently is approximately this

Typical Co-Navigation Opening Offer Between Deep Context MyWorldAtlas Cartographers

The more I read of your ideas and concerns , the more I would like to work as virtual partners on a deep joint project

By a deep issue context I mean: any one that you will be passionate about over the next 7 years and need some joint open searching, linking, promotion, facilitation, action project prooftesting and global replication. I don't particularly mind whether a nomination is commercial or wholly humanitarian as long as it does not close off collaborative learnings and transparency work I try to do with many others and other networks.

The bigger the challenge the better as long as you know some of your time/passion will compound around its action learning curve. I have been piloting a rough idea which I call MyWorldAtlas that I can illustrate better to show how to iteratively connect around a context, but I would need to hear or rehearse with you what the deepest context you are interested in from where you observe and experience life and sustainable value development. One reason why big actually helps me is that I mail coordinators of powerful networks with expressions of interest of people I link with giving them a menu which test out whether their network is actually up for action. One example of a target I want to test over the next 6 weeks is (3) clintonglobalinitiative.com - I get to hear of a new one of these almost monthly, and whilst I expect 11 out of 12 won't listen, (4) At Interlocal I later publish the gist of the letters I wrote and so discover who is prepared to work all the way with the people everyplace and who is just in a summit world of their own kind

Exploring New Orleans Future : Doublequotes is full of tense clues

Sep 16, 2005 — President Bush said Friday that the Gulf Coast must be rebuilt with an eye toward wiping out the persistent poverty and racial injustice plain to all in the suffering of the black and the poor in Hurricane Katrina's wake.

"As we clear away the debris of a hurricane, let us also clear away the legacy of inequality," Bush said during a national prayer service with other political leaders and religious figures from the affected region at the National Cathedral."

Also Friday, White House officials said that taxpayers will pay the bill for the massive reconstruction program for the hurricane ravaged-Gulf Coast and that the huge expense will worsen the nation's budget deficit.

Before Bush's remarks, Bishop T.D. Jakes, head of 30,000-member Potter's House church in Dallas, delivered a powerful sermon in which he called upon Americans to "dare to discuss the unmentionable issues that confront us" and to not rest until the poor are raised to an acceptable living standard.

"Katrina, perhaps, she has done something to this nation that needed to be done," Jakes said. "We can no longer be a nation that overlooks the poor and the suffering, that continues past the ghetto on our way to the Mardi Gras."

Bush, faced with continuing questions about whether help would have been sent more quickly to the storm zone if most victims had not been poor and black, echoed those themes in his brief remarks.

"Some of the greatest hardships fell upon citizens already facing lives of struggle, the elderly, the vulnerable and the poor," he said. "As we rebuild homes and businesses, we will renew our promise as a land of equality and decency and one day Americans will look back at the response to Hurricane Katrina and say that our country grew not only in prosperity but in character and justice."

vt says- lets make as start with some Washington DC cafe circles (and share ideas across other cities like London &...) discussing these intents and also survey what are the most valued humanity networks that invite volunteers to activate thier joint concerns

The Washington Post of Sept 11 carried a complete calendar of breakdowns between all major organisations in the first 2 weeks of Katrina's disaster. Even more clearly than the tragedy 4 years earlier, this shows how the prosperity of human beings everywhere is declining unless we can learn to value transparency as the new vital dynamic of our networked globe and communities everywhere.

What if we explore governing America transparently: as a network of states where people's cultures flourish- we feel that a more human way can be found of sustaining states like Louisiana and cities like New Orleans than today's short-term power-brokering. We have a dream perhaps, but backed up by networking economics we began work on in 1984 that cherishes community-up transparency and enabling people to make a difference and seeks to resolve conflicts of sustainability systemically ahead of time. If this might be a discussion group you want to be in join our egroup valuationUSA here.

In our networked worlds and interlinking economies & societies 1 2 3 4 5, over-reliance on one system’s command and controls is every being’s greatest risk.

What do New York, New Orleans, Phuket Island, London, Baghdad & Various African States have in common? Were they one-offs or will their compound root causes recur in other cities (or geographically people-tied places)?

Quite simply, we can see that all these geographies of citizen networks (aka societies) were devastated by terrifying acts of man or nature. Some unprepared for a single destructive stroke, many degraded by compounding distrust or short-term monetisation.

Analyse these system crises more deeply for common patterns - and warn yourself by asking would you want your family's future to rely solely on 20th C -pre-networked, pre-global&local - ideologies like these:
  • National governance – much more local contextual resilience is needed

Nightline, ABC Sept 1: To hear federal & local authorities discuss the plight of New Orleans today is to know that one is seriously out of touch or incapable of confronting the truth

  • Left versus right short-term constitutions of voting and mass media soundbiting – investment decisions that truly could have saved or ameliorated situations were long-term, structural ; not just about money but deeper human relations investments such as trust in human cooperation, open spaces and learning curves of social capital, cultural harmony and trust as money.
  • Valuing global corporations' future impacts separately from local societies- any state that perpetuates this governance error will depressingly make globalisation less & less human

  • Blocking Interlocal exchanges of learning across networks that go beyond national or other geographical boundaries- for example, as human beings are composed mainly of water, we should demand education about whole system learnings to do with water and climate ecologies. Make sure these go beyond nations and other geographical boundaries-indeed when a network of systems times systems sustains the overall value or health being compounded over time, boundary separation is like any other apartheid the area of greatest human risk.
  • Ignoring nature's cultural order: healthy society is a necessary condition for compounding strong economic growth and sustaining learning cultures, not vice versa

New Orleans: Anarchy hits US storm relief
    ==============================

The news out of New Orleans is getting harder to believe every hour. The world's only superpower seems to have lost control of the situation. Thousands of people are still stranded without food, water or medicine. Tens of thousands more homeless.

Lawlessness is spreading around the city with police and national guard trying to control things but ambulances and rescue helicopters have been shot at by armed thugs. Those stranded at centres like the sports stadium are in appalling conditions with grim sanitation and supplies. There are attempts to get a few thousand people a day out of the city as the Mayor has ordered the forced evacuation of everyone, but it is pitifully slow and the people have little or nothing to go to. As for the bodies - there is still no reliable estimate of those dead. But now the Mayor and a senator have put it in the thousands.

People are starting to ask whether or not the warning and evacuation was mishandled. If people are being forced to leave now then why not at the weekend before Katrina struck? And there are increasing voices emerging about the warnings that were ignored.

Federal funds were denied to strengthen the levees. Was America so obsessed with fighting terror that it forgot what homeland security really means? And does the demographic breakdown of those worst hit - predominantly poor and black have anything to do with how little was done to help them?

It is worth noting that George Bush's new chief of Homeland Security was out launching September as National Preparedness Month. You couldn't make it up. --------------------
Sept 1 New Orleans mayor speaking on radio: I've spoken to them all from George Bush down. I keep hearing help is coming- this is BullShit man, I ask where’s the beef? We need Greyhound Buses form everywhere, they offer a few school buses. There's too much small thinking- I am saying this may the biggest catastrophe ever seen in a modern American city. Let me tell you there is one John Wayne character I trust a General Honore. He's the one gift the nation's top has sent us. I want him to have all the operating authority, then we could perhaps save some people.

How Societies Choose to Fail or Survive

"It is seldom, in the modern day, that one comes across a book with an impact like 'Collapse - how societies choose to fail or survive', by Jared Diamond (an Allen Lane imprint of Penguin books, 2005. HBK ISBN 0-713-99286-7; PBK ISBN 0-713-99862-8). Diamond combines the most rigorous research with a light and engaging writing style that turns this potentially weighty topic into an informative and delightful read. He charts the lessons of past societies such as those of the Easter, Pitcairn and Henderson Islands, the Maya, the Vikings in Greenland, and Papua New Guinea. He contrasts these with modern experiences in Montana (USA), Rwanda, Haiti, China, and Australia. Diamond then provides a compelling synthesis and puts forward practical suggestions as to what governments, corporations and individuals can do to learn from the past and thereby endeavour to secure the best possible future for our world. I thoroughly recommend this book as a thought-provoking read".

From web report of B Kirkman:issues that led to
the tragedy in New Orleans will become apparent:

    1. After 9/11 the Federal Emergency Management Agency shifted from 75%
of its efforts being focused on natural disaster planning, preparation and drills to 75% being terrorism event reaction grants administration and terrorism event planning and preparation. Despite what one might think, there is little overlap between the two kinds of events. There has been a major departure of experienced FEMA managers with knowledge in natural disasters due to the focus on terrorism, and their replacement by terrorism experts.

    2. All across the US there is a terrible lack of coordination in issues related to flood control projects between the Federal, state and local government. There is also a lack of coordination between the construction of projects and their day-to-day operational management. In particular, in Louisiana is up to local officials to decide if volunteers will be recruited to stay in flood control stations when
major storms approach, at the risk of of the volunteers dying if the stations are destroyed. New Orleans did not ask for such volunteers.
Adjoining suburban areas did. The volunteers in adjoining areas were able to activate back-up generators and keep pumps working that
helped to avoid catastrophic flooding in the suburbs. In New Orleans the stations were unmanned. The power went out -> the pumps went off ...

    3. There had been proposals for over 20 years to build stronger flood control stations and barriers in the New Orleans area. It was not supported by short-term taxation logics.

    4. The evacuation plans were all designed on individuals and families driving their own cars out of New Orleans. No consideration was made
for the approximately 20% of the city that was dependent on public transportation. No one with knowledge of public transportation usage
was involved in designing the evacuation plan until it was very late.

Over the 33 years since I postgraduated in Statistics from Cambridge, I have seen extraordinary mathematical mistakes committed by measurement professions of management. Over and over, these are caused by an obsession with separation and measuring the past, instead of measures that help leaders to map what future opportunities can be compounded through transparent systems of relationships. I have started to compile a checklist of this rotten administration maths and why is drowning boardrooms and top people from connecting deep contextual decisions which explain ever more of the value multiplication of integrating localities into globally conflict-free and purposefully human networking systems of productive and demanding relationships. Your comments and open sourcing debate of this checklist are welcomed. Let's value the future's upcurving exponentials before globalization is so full of mathematical black holes that it loses all space for humanity's sustainability.

A report (titled Unseen Wealth) issued by economists and scholars of law in 2000, confessed that due to a mathematical mistake , the larger the organisation the less likely it is to be governing what impacts it is compounding for humanity. Since then our expert futures circles (including entrepreneurs since 1976 and network experts since 1984) have been working hard on the jigsaw pieces of this problem – its maths, its maps, and its stories - as you can see from browsing 1 2 3 4 Worldwide, club of city supports collaboration and networkers: to pose serious questions, notably on future curves that seem to be trending down in many places and communities. How do all peoples and media 1 2 3 turnround such examples as:
  • Healthcare – ever increasing costs
  • Children – increased family strain, lost safety of community
  • Professionals- loss of Hippocratic oath, ever more bureaucratic
  • Water – Clean water is getting scarcer
  • Transport – getting slower
  • National Government – Increasingly powering over instead of facilitating what people need next Mass media – dumbing down, loss of social space and transparent debates
  • Food chain – cost of good for you food going up
  • Nations Cultures- love of each other’s diversity going down
  • Pensions (investment in sustainable growth) – going down
  • Adult confidence in making a difference with lifelong learning potentials – seems to be going down
  • Insurance – cost going up, learnings across biggest tragedies seem increasingly blocked
  • Underclass – compounding underclass- their loss of hope in life and mutual risks to all of us in a hi-connected world
  • NGOs/Charity – Global*Local infrastructure further removed from depth of grassroots needs in crisis or sustainability turnround challenges
We are interested in any city network that either recognises any of these as a problem which it wants to question or has some answers they are happy to share with the world

  • Trust-flow audits whether a single organisation is compounding growth for all -productively & demandingly - relating around its best for the world purpose. Hi-trust relationship auditing is also what valuetrue intangibles valuation experts do.
  • Transparency mapmaking developed by uniting citizen networks as deep voice correspondents spotlights boundaries between networks of organisations within a sector or across sectors such as global corporation * national government (note through the 20th C how many African countries were corrupted at the silos). The peoples economics is mathematically different, and grassroots contextualised, from that which makes big power bigger.
  • Sustainability Investment Valuation (eg aSIN guide) integrates whether whole sectors are compounding exponential consequences that will connect with the survival let alone progress of the human species
  • Inspired by The Economist's cataloguing cases of entrepreneurial revolution since 1976, the maths of valuetrue research and network maps of unseen wealth began in earnest in 1989 in opposing brand valuation as the media's great mathematical mistake; valuetrue mapping is deeply contextual; see these playing pieces and read some papers on productive & demanding systems of human relationships; ask me at wcbn007@easynet.co.uk if you want to experiment with mapping a specific context whose future matters most in the world to you
